I am in the middle of my huge Spring cleaning with my #powerminutes. And that got me thinking about decluttering and how it can have a significant impact on our lives.
To be honest I really hate some cleaning chores more than others and my worst chore is decluttering and getting rid of stuff. No, I am not a hoarder. But since most of the stuff around our house is not mine I feel like I can’t know if my husband or son need all the things I feel are just junk. But when I reach a point that I really feel that something needs to be done, the process of decluttering gives me energy, it gives me joy and most of all it eases my pains.
So what are my tips to decluttering?
1. Make it a habit to do it once a month. Find a box where you put those things you need are not needed anymore and wait. When it is time to do decluttering the next month if nothing in that box was needed you know that it will not be needed latter either, so you can either donate, sell or just throw it away.
2. Don’t just declutter things, it is good to declutter other things in your life as well. Think what really is important in life and get rid of those other things that are keeping you from feeling good. Friends on Facebook that irritate you, commitments that make you feel negative all the time, hobbies that you no longer want to have. The list is endless.
3. Don’t do it all at once. Take your time and focus on one area at the time. When you take baby steps, you create harmony and happiness. Decluttering everything at once will make you feel empty inside and that is the last thing you need. Enjoy the process
So is there something you should not declutter? Yes, of course, there is but what those are in Your life I really can’t say because what is important to you might not be important to me at all. But here is a short list of things that I will never declutter. Family, nature around me and my goals in life.
If you have done some decluttering in your life please leave a comment and we can share ideas and thoughts.
